| Rayna Takeover | Holding an instrument is part of musicians’ everyday life, but the harder we work, the easier it becomes to forget - while it quietly rests in our hands, we forgot it has hundred years of untold stories, forgot every inch of it hides a secret, forgot what we were like before music, forgot how old we picked up our first instruments, forgot when we got used to holding our instruments, forgot when we no longer care about those calluses on our fingers, forgot when was the last day of no practice. But no matter how forgetful we are, we will always remember that when we played that very first note in our lives, it was simple yet we were lost for words. And from that moment on, that first note brought more indescribable moments into our lives.
Everything, began with the moment we held an instrument.

| Rayna Takeover | To incorporate more interactive elements into the exhibition, there were three iPads mounted on the wall which were playing the same film but with different pieces of music. People were amazed by how different a film can be simply with the power of music. Stay tuned🎻and come to my presentation to watch the film too!

| Rayna Takeover | before we head into more photos and stories, I'd like to invite you to my presentation later today at 6pm, NEC St. Botolph room 300! I created this exhibition because I believe life is about all those truly special moments, those moments that we can still recall no matter how long it's been, the bigger than life moments that support us when when we feel like giving up. And that's what we as musicians and artists do. No matter what instruments we play, we create and we live for those moments. So I wanted to create a space, where musicians and people can meet in the middle, a space that is out of everyone's comfort zone. Where I can see your face and you can look into my eyes, where music can penetrate all the barriers we put up. Stay tuned🎻🎻

Good morning! Meet Rayna Chou, aka @musictraveler_ig—she’ll be taking over the NEC instagram feed today! Rayna won an EM Grant for her social experimental exhibition “Music, Distance, and one minute of just us”, which attracted 3,000 visitors in Taichung City, Taiwan in December.

TONIGHT at 6pm she’s presenting at NEC [link in bio] about how, why, and what happened—Do you wonder what happened in the glass rooms, where a musician played one minute of music for a stranger, and others played the very first note of their lives? What is EM, and how did Rayna’s EM grant help make vision into reality?
